Army Corps of Engineers Troy Dam and Lock on the Hudson River
The Troy Dam and Lock on the Hudson River from the Collar City Bridge

Army Corps of Engineers Troy Dam and Lock on the Hudson River is the southernmost dam on the Hudson River. It is also the first lock for the Erie, Barge, and Champlain Canals. This dam also has legal significance in that south of the dam, the Hudson River is tidal all the way to the ocean and hence under US Government control. Fishing licenses aren't required there. North, or upstream, of the dam, the Hudson River is under state jurisdiction as far as fishing and boating regulations; all the way to its source in Newcomb, Essex County.
