A visitor-friendly guide to some of the best breakfast diners, bagel places, coffee houses and bakeries across the Capital Region of Albany.  The Capital Region has always been a great place to enjoy healthy and hearty breakfast and baked goods.  With farm-fresh eggs easily available, and fresh whole grain breads, cereals and more, various options for breakfast and baked goods abound.  Local coffee shops including The Daily Grind, Uncommon Grounds and other local and national coffee places serve up some of the freshess and tastiest coffee in the state.

The Albany bagel scene, once dominated by Bruegger's Bagels, is now seeing a renaissance with new places popping up inspired by New York City bagel places. For years it was hard to find a good bagel upstate besides Bruggers, but now with places like Pearl's Bakery, Bagel and Bakes and the Cookie Factory, decent bagels can be found in the Capital Region.  Prices can vary from $7 to $12 for a half-dozen and usuually coincides with the size of the bagel.

Albany and surrounding areas boasts a lot of good diners often open late night and that serve breakfast all day.  From the Alexis Diner in North Greenbush,  Bob's Diner in Watervliet - open 24 hours, 76 Diner in Latham, Western Diner in Guiderland the Capital Region has lots of diner options.

Visitor tip: Weekend brunch can book up fast in peak season. Consider reservations when available.
