The festival runs the length of Lark Street from Madison Avenue to Washington Street in Albany, NY and showcases art and craft vendors, a large selection of food and drinks and local and national music acts. Tens of thousands of people attend each year on the Saturday in September after Labor Day weekend.  The Lark Street Neighborhood District Management Association (Lark Street BID) organizes Lark Fest each year.

In addition, to live music, LarkFest also includes a large array of vendors selling handmade crafts, artwork, clothing, jewelry, and food. Local restaurants and food trucks set up shop on the street to offer festival-goers a diverse selection of cuisine.

LarkFest is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, with many activities and games for children, including face painting, balloon animals, and crafts. The festival also features a beer garden, where visitors can enjoy craft beer and cider from local breweries.
